Tomorrow night our friends around the corner - Ink Lounge Gallery - are hosting a pretty great looking opening. They have more than 50 pieces of sweet printmaking from Diana Sudyka and Jay Ryan. Diana and Jay will be there too! - Come by at 6 pm to hear Diana and Jay talk about their work and their inspiration; or stop by anytime until 10 pm to see (and maybe purchase!) some great looking prints.

We can't say enough about Uppercase Magazine - the first issue was everything we hoped a magazine for the creative and curious would be - and more!
Issue 2 is almost out - Janine just shared a a few sneak peeks on the Uppercase blog. We should have Issue 2 in store within the next week or two!

In June 2009 I had a chance to drop in on Fugu Fugu Press - a boutique letterpress print shop located in Pasadena CA. I had a great time chatting with proprietors Shino and Ken while they worked to get the presses ready to print a custom designed wedding package. They have a great space that clearly represents their interest in craft, design and quality.

Red Camper has released a new bag. The Skylark Ltd is a vertically oriented laptop bag that is packed full of details. In addition to the magnetic closure, adjustable shoulder strap and multiple interior pockets, this bag has all kinds of repurposed style. From a recycled airline seat belt clip to 1970's vintage car upholstery -- and of course, Red Camper's signature 35mm slides.
We have always been impressed by Red Camper's attention to function while including all of the little details that really make their products unique. The Skylark Ltd makes a great addition to our selection of laptop bags.

Composition started as my way to express and share a passion for design. It started a little over 5 years ago with a 450 square foot space in lower downtown Denver. It was a terrible retail location but I guess I was so optimistic and naive that I didn't know any better. I think my sheer exuberance for the products, vendors and the people I was meeting carried me through that first 15 months. Since then, I have learned a great deal about the retail business and its many challenges; grown the store to 2600 square feet in its current Belmar location and continued to feed and share my passion for design and the creative community that this store reaches. I have a lot more to say and share, but right now there is a website to launch.
